Ferdinand is a character in William Shakespeare's play The Tempest. He is the son of Alonso, the King of Naples, and is portrayed as a young, noble prince. Ferdinand is shipwrecked on the island and believes that his father and brother have died. He falls in love with Miranda, the daughter of the island's ruler Prospero, and eventually marries her. Ferdinand is initially arrogant and proud, but his love for Miranda changes him, and he becomes more humble. He is also a hardworking character, as he is shown carrying logs and performing manual labor to earn Prospero's approval and Miranda's hand in marriage.
